Product Description
Even the best cut bacon can curl, making it difficult to cook evenly. The cast iron bacon press flattens the bacon, keeping it's shape for even cooking and the wooden handle stays cool while the press is in use. To speed up the process, pre-heat the press.Amazon.com Review
Bacon curls while frying, making it difficult to cook evenly. Long ago, cooks found a simple solution to this problem: hold bacon to its proper shape by flattening it with a heavy, cast-iron press. Norpro's press hews to that tradition. It's made of traditional cast iron and has a wooden handle that stays cool while the press is in use. For speeding up the bacon-frying process, the press can be preheated--also preheat it when you're flattening hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, or quesadillas. Season the press by coating it with oil and heating it for 20 minutes; after cleaning it in soapy water, it should also be lightly coated with vegetable oil to prevent rust. --Fred BrackSimilarProduct

Simple Kitchen Pleasures of a Bacon Press
by .. Jerrold B. Maben (Kennebunk, ME United States)
What could be more "home spun" kitchen fun than the use of a simple, light, wooden handled bacon press. The side view of a pig cast into the press only adds to the down home appeal. Leave your heavy "grilled cheese" press on the sideline here, as this is the one to use for consistent flat, crisp, and enjoyable bacon!
This little Piggy went to Grill

Perfect for Bacon or Grilled cheese sand. As with all cooking aids for the Stove or Grill this will "Season" in time and those little crevis holes will fill up a little that's only normal. Just clean the best you can and be happy with what you got or just hang it on the wall. I Pre-Season mine with cooking oil first, pre-heat my press, then blot with a paper towel, Be careful not to burn yourself! This is only my opinion not advice. Our family loves this press.
Be Well Cook Well!
It's pretty basic ppl, c'mon
by .. Bret A. Chernak (California)
It's heavy as it should be, the handle is not designed weird and doesn't cause you to burn youself, and it does it's job. I don't eat bacon much, but I use it for grilled sandwitches and other foods I want to press down. It's cast iron, so you don't put it in the dishwasher and need to keep a light coat of oil on it at all times. For those who had problems cleaning it I don't know what to say. Yes, there are small areas to get into... but I clean as I use it, so it's never been a problem.
Wonderful!

Using it mostly on Sauages...cause my turkey bacon isn't thick enough. Works Wonderfully! I'm so glad I got it.
Come on people!

I have owned this very same bacon press for several years and it works fine. There are people complaining that the press is too short for the length of the strips of bacon. CUT THE STRIPS IN HALF! You still get a nice size strip of bacon about the same size that you would get in most any Waffel/pancake joint. Too hard to clean you say? How about wrapping everything below the handle with a piece of aluminum foil. This is not rocket science here! Jeezus people.
